FIFA has created a new transfer window for the Club World Cup. FC Bayern Munich is taking advantage of it twice: Following Jonathan Tah, Tom Bischof is also coming to Munich a few days before his contract with his old club ends. According to reports, the Munich club is paying a six-figure sum for the transfer.
Record champions FC Bayern Munich can take Tom Bischof with them to the Club World Cup in the USA, in addition to Jonathan Tah. Munich and TSG Hoffenheim have reached an agreement on an early transfer for the 19-year-old midfielder, as both clubs confirmed. "We have found a solution with FC Bayern Munich that all parties are happy with," said Hoffenheim's managing director Andreas Schicker. No details were given regarding the transfer fee.
According to Kicker, TSG will receive a transfer fee of €300,000 so the midfielder can travel to the USA. A similar deal was struck with national defender Tah, who will also join his new employer after the Nations League Final Four. According to Sky, FC Bayern will pay €800,000 for the early release; depending on the club's performance at the World Cup, the sum could rise to over €1 million.
Tah is moving to Munich from Bayer Leverkusen on a free transfer, with his contract expiring. Thanks to a special FIFA transfer window, he and Bischof can play in the Club World Cup from the start. Without the special FIFA regulation, appearances would have been possible from July 1 at the earliest, and possibly in the quarterfinals.
Bayern will fly from Munich to Orlando on Tuesday afternoon. They will set up their base camp in Florida. The German champions kick off the XXL tournament on Sunday (6 p.m. CEST/all DAZN and live ticker at ntv.de) in Cincinnati against Auckland City. Other group opponents are Boca Juniors of Argentina (Friday, June 20, 3 a.m. CEST in Miami) and Benfica Lisbon (Tuesday, June 24, 9 p.m. CEST in Charlotte) .
Borussia Dortmund will be the second German club among the 32 participants to fly to the USA on Friday. BVB will play its first match on June 17 at 6 p.m. CEST in the eventual final stadium in East Rutherford against Fluminense Rio de Janeiro. They will also face Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa (Saturday, June 21, 6 p.m. CEST in Cincinnati) and Ulsan HD FC of South Korea (Wednesday, June 25, 9 p.m. CEST in Cincinnati) .
